Are all high chairs this difficult to clean off?

I have an older high chair that has a removable cloth pad. Every time my daughter eats anything I have to take off the cloth and wash it, tip the chair upside down to get all the crumbs out of the cracks, then I have to sweep the kitchen floor! It seems like high chairs should be easier to clean. Am I the only one with this problem? Anyone use the small booster type seats that sit right on the kitchen chair? I need to use something that I can strap her into, otherwise she would be all over the place
by older I mean probably from the late 1990′s to the early 2000′s. It was bought at the salvation army by my MIL and I never got around to getting a decent one. She’s 10.5 months, would if be worth my $$ to get a brand new one?

Which do you prefer…a high chair or one of those chairs that you can put on one of the table chairs?
